While many may remember her from Oxygen’s Sisterhood of Hip Hop or her hit 2012 single Marilyn Monroe, the Miami-bred artist is no stranger to the music game. In fact, we first heard her spit fire when she was just 9 years old on rapper Trina’s single “Kandi.” She later signed to Missy Elliot’s Goldmine Inc. label, where she honed her craft in preparation for her album debut.

She has since become a force to be reckoned with. And, when she’s not working on her music, Brianna is slaying Instagram, donning new hairstyles and looks on every post.

Hype Hair: Tell us about your new EP Fortune Cookie. What can fans expect to hear on this new project?
Brianna Perry: A raw, unapologetic introduction to a woman who has grown into her own.

HH: What’s the story behind the name?
BP: Each listener who opens up my fortune cookie will be able to take a message with them about life, hustle, believing in yourself, pursuing dreams, love, etcetera.

HH: You’ve worked with some major names in the industry like Offset and Blocboy for this EP. What was that like?
BP: Amazing. I appreciated the sauce they added to my pot.

HH: What motivates and inspires you in your personal life and music career?
BP:Wanting to be the best version of myself. In life, things are constantly changing, and in order to survive you must constantly evolve as well, so wanting to stay ahead of the curve keeps me inspired.

HH: Your style is continuously evolving and changing. What is your favorite hair look to rock right now?
BP: I’m a sucker for a blonde bob.

HH: We’ve also seen you with a vibrant, violet asymmetrical bob and bold, blonde tresses on your EP cover. What do you using to maintain your ever-changing looks?
BP: Carol’s Daughter’ Almond Cookie line is one of my faves. They work so well and smell amazing.

HH: And your own hair is natural, right?
BP: I’ve been natural for a few years now.

HH: What are your top five tried-and-true haircare tips you can share with our readers?
BP:One, no perms or harsh chemicals. Two, drink a lot of water. Three, keep my ends trimmed. Four, wash hair in between each install. Five, oil [my] scalp.

HH: How would you describe your style?
BP: Fluid. It just flows, depending on my mood, the setting and what I’m trying to give.

HH: Do you have any advice for readers who look up to you or who are striving to pursue their music dreams?
BP: Never give up and keep God first! People can try to count you out, but they can’t count your blessings!
