Birchbox is known for curating must-have beauty and holiday sets that get delivered right to your door. Now the monthly subscription service is bringing its beauty finds to Walgreens.
Birchbox just upgraded the pharmacy’s beauty aisles with a new Birchbox beauty section featuring more than 40 brand faves such as COOLA, Embryolisse, Marcelle and Love of Color. Beauty lovers can buy limited edition boxes and kits (hello holiday gifts), as well as create their own custom boxes via a “Build Your Own Birchbox” experience.
For those not in the know, Walgreens Beauty Consultants have also been trained to offer guidance and advice on the brands.
“We have found an exciting partner that supports our mission of reaching an underserved customer who doesn’t prioritize beauty,” said Katia Beauchamp, CEO and co-founder of Birchbox in a recent statement. “Birchbox has effectively changed the relationship that this customer, who represents 70 percent of the market, has with beauty and increased her spend in the category. Walgreens is deeply committed to beauty and shares our vision for a different type of retail experience – one that is holistic, seamless and designed to help shoppers make informed, confident decisions. Together we will continue to evolve the integration of our physical and digital shopping experiences.
The custom shop is available at six Walgreens locations across the country, including SoHo New York where the brands hosted a launch party last week, along with Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Chicago.
Five more locations are set to open in 2019 in Dallas, Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles. This is a marked expansion for Birchbox, which operates primarily as a direct-to-consumer service, along with two of its own brick-and-mortar stores in New York City and Paris.
