It’s so exciting to know that beauty is defined by more than just a killer hairstyle or face beat — it’s also about the skin you’re in and the confidence you wear. Not mention what you do with all the gifts you’ve been given.
So, we love that Dove is launching a new Girl Collective movement designed to not only challenge beauty stereotypes, but also empower young girls to take charge of their lives.
This weekend, 300 women and girls are invited to join Dove’s Self-Esteem Project and its partners — including media mogul Shonda Rhimes — for a day of panels, masterclasses and workshop aimed at empowering women and addressing issues of media representation, beauty identity and body positivity.
The kick-off event takes place this Saturday (Oct. 6) at City Market Social House, located at 1145 San Pedro Street in Los Angeles. If you’re area, click here to register to bring your daughters, sisters, etc. for free.
The event is just one part of the Girl Collective sisterhood movement. There is also a growing community on Facebook to help girls and women connect with one and inspire one another.
