When Love Is_ star Michele Weaver was cast as leading lady for the hit OWN series, she knew she’d be rocking short hair, but she didn’t think it’d be her own. “I thought it would be a wig,” she admitted during a promo appearance on Wendy Williams Show, Thursday (July 12).
Instead, series co-creator and renowned producer/writer Mara Brock Akil had other plans, calling the new lady after casting to talk about her hair. It was then that Michele, who plays the younger version of Mara in the real-life love story of her and husband Salim Akil, realized she’d have to big chop her back-grazing curls.
Everything worked out great, though. Mara took her to Neeko Abriol, the same stylist who chopped her hair 20 years ago, to get the new look. Michele said it was the “biggest transformation for a role yet” and her “best decision ever.” The beauty is now an official member of team #shorthairdontcare and she’s rocking it flawlessly!
