Hype Hair: How would you define your style and fashion sense?
Navia Robinson: Edgy meets chic. I like to make sure that whatever I’m wearing looks clean and put-together, but also shows my edgier side. I also love trying new trends and interesting looks that make my style unique and stand out in a crowd
HH: Tell us about your beauty regimen.
NR: I know some girls my age don’t always clean their skin, but washing your face is so important. Every morning I use a silicone exfoliator. The silicone is great because it doesn’t trap bacteria, making sure you are really giving your skin a good clean. After I exfoliate, I always moisturize. I love to use coconut oil at night to really get a deep-moisturized feeling when I wake up.
HH: What are five things you always pack in your purse?
NR: Tinted lip balm; my phone; blotting sheets—I get oily on hot Los Angeles days; gum; lip gloss; and a hair tie.
HH: How do you balance your acting projects with your day-to-day life?
NR: I try to be as productive as possible, both on and off the set, to create a good balance between school, family and acting. I have a mental checklist that I go through every day to make sure I’m using my time as best I can.
HH: What inspires you in life, and where would you like to see yourself in five years?
NR: I’d love to see Raven’s Home thrive for many seasons—and I’d love to have the opportunity to move into film. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and I think it would be amazing to work on the set of a major feature film. When I’m of age, my goal is to earn my college degree at Julliard or a performing arts school in Los Angeles.
HH: What advice would you share with other young women about confidence and achieving goals?
NR: A lot of times, we have a tendency to overthink and put too much energy into caring what others think about us. Being so concerned with what others think of you will nag at you and can bring your spirit down. When I manage my social media, I really have to remind myself of this and not let the negativity affect me emotionally. The sooner you embrace your flaws, the more confident you will become.
HH: What’s on deck for you next?
NR: Right now, I’m really focused on Raven’s Home and its success. Hopefully, the show will have many more seasons to come!
