This Makeup Artist Used Burnt Cork To Create The Perfect Smokey Eye

We are always down for a good do-it-yourself, especially when it comes to beauty fixes. So, we were all in when we learned about this makeup artist’s homemade fix to slay Paris’ Haute Couture Fashion Week.

Stéphane Marais, used burnt corks to create a makeup masterpiece for designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s runway presentation. Inspired by the show’s “Smoking No Smoking” theme, Stéphane collected corks from Champagne bottles in two days, burning the cork to make a transparent eyeshadow.

He took to Instagram to share his creation, calling it his “new makeup tool.”

 “It is kind of a strange beauty but very captivating,” he told WWD. “It makes the eyes look crazy.”
