Celeb stylist Tym Wallace has been behind the mane of Skai Jackson for a few years now — and, whenever the two get together we can always expect larger-than-life hair slay. Most recently, he styled the starlet for the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards with a half-up, half-down look complete with baby hairs and crush-worthy curls.

While the diva normally rocks her own lengthy tresses, Tym opted for Indique hair extensions to give Skai a fuller, longer look. He took to Instagram for some salon talk with the actress, sharing how he achieves naturally looking curls.
With a high-speed fan whirring above their heads and working his wand irons, he said the key to a natural look is switching up size and direction while curling hair.
“I like alternating sizes cause I like giving [hair] different textures. You gotta alternate the size, you gotta alternate directions, too,” said Tym. “That’s very important when dealing with curly, wavy, any texture hair. Never go in the same direction. Nobody with naturally curly or wavy hair has the same pattern — we all have different textures throughout.”
Once you’ve wanded all the hair, make sure to let curls cool and use a large brush (or fingers) to brush out waves for a softer look.
