“I’ve been working with Mary J. Blige for years and I love trying new looks on her,” shared D’Andre on working with the R&B icon. “I wanted to create a show-stopping look using Black/Opal for her first time appearance at the SAG Awards. Once I saw her gown, I knew I wanted to transform her into an elegant smoked goddess.”

We also love that we can actually recreate her look at home using products from drugstore fave Black/Opal. Read on to get all the deets from D’Andre on how he created her smoking hot look.

To begin D’Andre prepped her freshly cleansed and moisturized skin with Black/Opal Invisible Oil Blocking Gel Primer ($9.95). Once set, he applied and blended Black/Opal Even True Flawless Liquid Foundation with a foundation brush and Total Coverage Concealing Foundation ($9.95) using a moistened blending sponge to get a smooth, even finish. For contour, he used Black/Opal Skin Perfecting Stick Foundation SPF15 ($9.95) and set Mary’s face with the Black/Opal Soft Velvet Finishing Powder in Deep.

For her smoked eyes, D’Andre used colors from Black/Opal’s Aurora Eyeshadow Palette. Starting with Brazen Copper, he applied color over her entire eyelid, then added the Brazen Bronze in her crease line and used Bordeaux Beige as a highlighter along the brow bone as a highlight. To get the smokey look he lined smudged her lashes and inner lid with Black/Opal Color Splurge Automatic Eye Lining Pencil in Licorice. He kept her lips simple with a sheer lippie from the brand’s Lip Color Splurge Stick Lip in Purr.
