#FirstLook: Torrei Hart Talks New Hair Care Line, Leaving A Legacy For Her Daughter

Torrei Hart is the latest celebrity to get in on the beauty business with the launch of her own hair care line, Heavenly Hart by Nzuri. The collection, which she teased earlier this year, features a curated selection of products that not only helps slay a twist-out but also leaves users with a healthier head of hair and scalp.

The six-piece lineup includes a hydrating shampoo and conditioner, 12-in-1 leave-in conditioner, moisturizing cream, curl souffle and a hair growth serum. All of the products are free of dyes, toxins, sulfates, parabens, mineral oil and pthalates and enriched with such extracts as horsetail, nettles, aloe vera and seaweed.

We caught up with the aspiring beauty mogul to chat about her new venture. Read on to find out her one must-have from the collection, what daughter Heaven Leigh thinks about the name and to get a closer look at the full line-up.

Hype Hair: You created the new line in partnership with Nzuri Hair Care & Wellness. What made you want to get into the business of hair?
Torrei Hart: Hair care is such a huge and expanding market and we always see organic products that seem to focus on the aesthetic of our hair. The Nzuri team focuses on actual health of the hair and scalp and that really stood out to me. When the opportunity was presented to me I thought, “this is my chance to create products that work for women who want organic products that work and give real results.” Being that I have natural hair and I know that dilemma, I felt like this was a natural partnership and I couldn’t say no.

HH: What was the development process like?
TH: It was a collaborative effort. I wanted the product bottles to look polished and to stand out and the Nzuri team came up with great designs that were reflective of that. I also wanted the smells to be soothing and light for the women who wear it. I wanted it to smell as beautiful as it makes a woman’s hair feel.

HH: What does your daughter think about having the brand named after her?
TH: She is ecstatic!! What little girl would not be? I do not know that she understands the legacy part of it — she is only 12. But, I think that as she gets older, she will see that this vision is bigger than a hair care line and appreciate why it was named after her.

HH: Yes, everything in the collection has a very sweet fragrance to it. Is that where the “Coconutty” term comes from?
TH: Coconut is a base scent for all of the products. It’s also something we thought would be s fun to associate with the line.

HH: Natural hair Or is just meant for natural hair?
TH: Every woman deserves healthy, beautiful hair so the entire collection can work on both naturally and chemically treated hair. It’s the best of both worlds!

HH: What would be your one must-have from the collection?
TH: I truly love every single product in the line. They are all in constant use by me and my daughter. But, if I had to pick one? The Moisturizer 4 Days Moisturizing Cream would be it. It makes my hair feel amazing!
