Stunning actress Nafessa Williams lights up the scene as Toya—the friend all the boys seem to love and the girl who lives her life in the moment— in Burning Sands which made its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. She is also appearing in the highly anticipated reboot of Twin Peaks on Showtime. Nafessa is on her way to becoming a bona fide star! We caught up with her for a bit of chick chat!

Hype Hair: Tells us about yourself and your current projects
Nafessa Williams: I am a West Philadelphia native, the oldest of four. I graduated cum laude from West Chester University with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice. My new film Burning Sands is now available on Netflix. I’ll also be in the reboot of Twin Peaks, which will premiere on May 2.

HH: What are some of the most exciting moments in your career so far?
NW: I would have to say, booking a series regular slot on One Life to Live was one of the highlights of my career. It was my first real booking, and on a national network! It gave me confidence and confirmation that I was on the right path. Also, shooting Brotherly Love (currently on Net ix) in my hometown, in the neighborhood I grew up in, was pretty dope.

HH: Tell us about your online boutique, Saturday Dreaming.
NW: Oh yes! Saturday Dreaming is something I created with my best friend, Michelle Savage. We both love fashion, and my dream was to create my very own version of Forever21— so that’s what SD is. Affordable fashion for the girl who’s following her dreams but wants to look as if she’s already succeeded.

HH: How would you describe your personal style?
NW: I’d say my personal style is pretty feminine. I’m obsessed with ruf es, fur, diamonds, anything pretty. However, I have my tomboy-chic moments, when I want to wear sweats and sneakers. My style inspirations are J.Lo and Rihanna. They get it right every time!

HH: How do you maintain your hair?
NW: I deep-condition it twice a week. And I make sure to get a trim every six to eight weeks.
