This Is How Kerry Washington Got Her Dramatic SAG Awards Look

We all love some good windblown hair and Kerry Washington knows how to deliver. Less than 24 hours after debuting a chic and choppy bob, Kerry brought the drama with a long and sleek look at the 2017 SAG Awards – taking to Instagram to give us our hair lives.

She and hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew shared a video looked as if they were ready to step into a hair commercial. And, with Takisha behind her mane, it very well could have been!

“When I saw Kerry’s Roberto Cavalli white dress, I was truly inspired to go with a very simple, chic, long middle part and smooth hairstyle,” said Takisha who also added slight color to highlight the hair. “I felt like the dress had a very 70’s effortless sexy look to it.”

To get the look, Takisha first conditioned her hair with Neutrogena Triple Repair Deep Recovery Hair Mask. “The conditioner gave Kerry’s hair a really nice shine and softened her hair strands,” she said.

Then, she blew out Kerry’s tresses using the Dyson Supersonic Blow Dryer and smoothing nozzle attachment. which she said helped dry her hair in half the time. “This blow dryer is great because Kerry is all about the health of her hair and doesn’t like a lot heat on it at all. This dryer prevents her hair from getting damaged by extreme heat because the temperature stays under control so it won’t damage the hair.”

She parted and clipped in straight TSD Hair Extensions to add length through the middle of her hair and added a few custom-colored pieces around her face as highlights.

Kerry’s dramatic smokey eye was also created using Neutrogena products. Makeup artist Carola Gonzalez used Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer in Smoky Steel with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner Cosmic Black.

“I wanted Kerry’s eye makeup to look fierce, classy and dramatic, with an edge,” said Carola. “I felt this look went hand in hand with the hair and Roberto Cavalli’s dress. The creative process is always fun when you are working with someone who loves to take risks.”

We love that she takes risks, too!
