Big-haired wonder Jillian Hervey is taking the beauty industry by storm. While making her mark as one half of the genre-bending musical duo Lion Babe, Jillian Hervey’s larger-than-life textured tresses have often left us with serious curl-envy.
And, it seems we’re not the only ones. Pantene has tapped the daughter of Vanessa Williams to serve as the face, er, um, hair of the brand. Though traditionally seen as a go-to for women with long, straight hair, the new campaign focuses on curly hair.
“Pantene hair can be all types and textures,” said Jodi Allen, Vice President of Hair Care & Color for North America at Procter & Gamble. She said Hervey “has the most gorgeous curls out there and is the perfect person to lead this new effort.” As its newest ambassador, Hervey will be featured in all elements of the campaign, including television and print commercials and social media.
Though her golden mane of curls have become her signature look, Hervey admits it was a journey to embracing her natural hair.
“When I was a young girl, I wasn’t always trying to have curly hair,” the singer told PeopleStyle. After moving to New York, she “realized the best way for me to take care of my hair and achieve longer, fuller hair was go natural instead of relaxing it or overheating it or adding weaves.”
Hervey is fast-becoming a beauty industry fave. Earlier this year, she partnered with M.A.C. to launch her first cosmetics offering, Lion Babe’s Liquidlast Liner, as part of its Future Forward campaign.
