Since the early 2000’s, Mixed Chicks has been at the forefront of multi-ethnic hair products — long before the natural hair craze began. A sure staple for kinky curly gals, the unique brand grew quickly from just a web-based business to being sold in over 4,000 mass retailers across the country.
With over a decade in the business, Mixed Chicks has continued to thrive in the fast-growing hair market, as CEO Kim Etheredge credits their long-standing success to listening to their customers. “We have to try and provide them with products that are requested and necessary. Making consistent products that work keeps you alive but staying in tune with the desires of our customers and hair community is what will keep us in the game!” she told ESSENCE in a recent interview.
In addition to toasting to the brand’s growth, Etheredge also dished exciting news on Mixed Chicks’ latest endeavors, sharing that they’ve got a few new products in the works — including expanding their cosmetics line “In the Mix” and debuting a brand new line of styling products great for executing two strand twists, bantu knots faux hawks, updos and more sleek and slick styles.
Their first item from the line is Quick Stick, a smooth foundation and shimmering bronzer duo, debuted last spring. It comes in five shades and retails for $22.50. No word yet on when the full line will be released.
