5 Do’s And Don’ts For Longer, Healthier Hair

Monae Everett X Healthy HairAs a licensed stylist, I know that my clients all want beautiful hair. Healthy and shiny hair is important regardless of your hair’s length, but it is imperative if you want to grow it out long and strong. So, I’ve pulled together some quick do’s and don’ts to get you started (or keep you going) on your journey to longer, healthier and shinier hair.

1. Don’t skip the haircut.
Get your hair trimmed every 2 to 3 months.

2. Do hair treatments
Give your hair the treatments that it needs. My favorite one right now is Aphogee. Alternate between protein treatments and moisturizing conditioners.

3. Don’t use your cotton towels to dry your hair
Ditch your cotton towel for a micro-fiber towels.Dry your hair with a microfiber towel or a good old fashioned T-shirt.

4. Don’t burn out your strands.
Lay off the heat and add some cold styling options to your hair routine. Try styles ranging from roller sets to twist sets to wet wraps. All of these styles can be achieved without the use of any heat.

5. Do protective styles on your hair.
Have fun with your protective style. Try funky braided styles and keep those ends tucked away. This is also a great time to infuse hair extensions.
