Viola Davis & Lupita Nyong’o Go Makeup-Free For Vanity Fair

Cover appearances are a big deal – and when celebs nab their coveted spots and corresponding spreads, their first move is get their glam team on point for a flawlessly beat face and perfectly coiffed tresses. Rarely, do we we see them go makeup free. But, when they do, it’s often powerfully poignant and empowering. This is true for Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong’o who appear Vanity Fair‘s Hollywood Issue.

Their full spread features an all-female cast of 13 who the glossy has named as “Hollywood’s fiercest” for their impact within the entertainment industry. While all sport makeup for the un-retouched three-page inset, they all rock little to no makeup in their portraits while striking dramatic poses captured by the great Annie Leibowitz.
