Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson looks regal in her old Hollywood-themed cover shoot for O, The Oprah Magazine‘s December issue. Celebrity makeup artist stylist Sam Fine created the songstress’ smoky eye and deep lip to complement her 1930’s-inspired pin curls. Her luxe wardrobe for the glam spread includes a floor length sequined mini dress and gown in her favorite color, paired with lavish fur and jewels.

“My closet is purple, my dressing room is purple, and I even love a purple lipstick!,” said Hudson.

The Grammy award winner makes her Broadway-debut as Shug Avery in the 1985 film-turned-musical The Color Purple, co-produced by Oprah. She stars alongside Orange is the New Black actress Danielle Brooks and U.K. actress Cynthia Errivo. Previews opened Tuesday (Nov. 10) at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City.

“I have butterflies taking on this role, but I like that. I never second guessed it – I just hopped right in,” she said. “She is such a different funky character for me and I was very attached to book and the film.”

The issue hits newsstands December 17. Until then, click through to see Jennifer Hudson’s super glamorous photo shoot.
