Flaxseed gel is an amazing and natural option for moisturizing and providing hold for your hair. It’s nourishing and rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. The gel is great for natural 4C hair and natural hair styles like twist outs, braid outs or even a wash-and-go as it gives great curl definition without flaking or drying your hair out. The consistency easily blends into the hair adding great shine. I love it! And, it’s quite easy to make at home yourself.
Here are simple instructions for the three-step process. Be sure to press play to watch me make my own batch and hopefully you’ll fall in love with it, too!
- 1/4 cup of flaxseed/linseed
- 3 cups of water
- Oils of your choice – coconut oil, tea tree oil, an essential oil (all optional)
- Strainer or pair of tights
- Pot and Spoon
Simply boil your flaxseed for 5-10 minutes until it gets sticky. Sieve/strain immediately into a container before it cools and thickens. Adding an essential oil to helps it last for 2-3 weeks. Without it, it lasts for 1 week when refrigerated. Enjoy!
