7 Beauty Lessons I’ve Learned While Living In New York

Don’t be afraid of dupes.

I always used to think splurging on the top tier and high-priced items were the way to go. But, in New York it’s all about making your dollar stretch. While I do still splurge on certain items like facial cleansers, shampoos, foundation, etc, I’ve learned to smarten up on those daily items like Q-tips, cotton balls, and even little items like nail polish and hand lotions.

Another great item I like to pay less for these days is lipstick and lip gloss. While Chanel or YSL may have a color you’re dying for, NYX or Covergirl probably have a dupe for a lot cheaper that will get the job done too.

Hint: If your local drugstores prices are still a bit too steep for you, try your local beauty supply store!
