One of our fave twins and co-host of The Real, Tamera Mowry-Housley has been on a mission to bring back the curls we knew when we were first introduced to her and her sister Tia back in the ’90’s. Almost two years ago, the actress decided to embrace her natural hair again and big chopped in January 2014 after suffering from massive heat damage. She debuted her TWA on The Real last November and has been keeping her Instagram followers in the loop on her healthy hair journey ever since.
The twinista served some serious hair envy on IG earlier this week with a photo of her bouncy shoulder length curls styled by Karim Odoms. She gives credit to the “Curl Doctor” Shai Amiel of Capella Salon, who is the curl saver to many celebrities, including Amandla Stenberg and Kelis.
Shai Amiel said in an Instagram post:
Tamera started to embrace her curly hair January 2014. She has worn her hair either natural or protected with quality wigs that didn’t ruin her hair. We have trimmed it a few times to allow her curls to bounce back. She took the proper steps by having it styled on the set of hairdressers that don’t damage it & here we can see how happy her curls are now 18 months later. I’ve been so honored to be the only one she trusted to trim & highlight it.
The Real’s second season premieres September 23 and we’re glad to see Tamera will be flaunting her curls this season. Click through to see her natural hair journey and favorite hair products.
