Hype Chat: Kim Kimble Talks ‘LA Hair’, The Natural Hair Movement And Why You Need A Hair Professional

Kim Kimble X LA HairHype Hair: Your new season of LA Hair premiered last week Thursday and we loved it! What are you most excited about this season?
Kim Kimble: There are different things on the show that are exciting for my brand and my business, but overall, I think it’s a great season. Of course there’s drama, but, I can say I’m proud of what we’ve done.

HH: Everyone has their own big personalities. How do you avoid the ratchet route a lot of reality tv series take?
KK: Don’t get me started! All I can do is make sure I don’t come out ratchet. I can only control what Kim Kimble does. Hairstylists are very creative people and very, you know, interesting. But, I do feel like this is an opportunity to really show who we are.

And, I don’t agree with ratchet. But, as long as people keep supporting ratchet, people are going to keep giving you ratchet because that’s what gets the numbers. But, I can only control me and I’m not interested in being ratchet.I don’t want to be like everybody else.

HH: Your profession is making hair creations for others, but what looks do you like to create for yourself?
KK: We’re talking about a person who changes their hair frequently. I’ll have my moments where I’m all natural because I love the natural hair movement. I wear extensions because I like to change up. I may have straight hair, curly hair. It changes pretty much everyday. But right now, I have curly extensions in. Because it’s summertime, [so] that I can just wake up and go.
