If we had to sum up Zendaya in two words it would definitely be: fearless and fashionable. The 18-year-old has quickly risen to fame, and solidified herself as a red carpet mainstay. Honestly, this chick only gets better with time.
Without a doubt, every time we catch this young lady on the scene she’s pushing the envelope and exploring her fashion abilties from head to toe. Zendaya donned a cropped, pixie cut to the Grammys, and for NYFW she was out on the town with a fly braided updo, and just this wekeend she switched up her look once again – this girl just doesn’t stop, you never know what she’ll try next.
The multitalented starlet rocked faux locs and shocked all at the Oscars Awards this past Sunday (Feb. 22). She hit the red carpet in a breathtaking champagne gown, and when the camera panned out to show her new do’ all naturalista’s across the nation got their lives. Humble brag, approved. Zendaya really doesn’t miss a beat, and her trendy faux locs are the perfect example. As a millennial at the forefront of entertainment, fashion, and beauty, this chick is proving to be a red carpet chameleon.
Yet, while others loved her daring look some weren’t here for her style switch-up, especially E!’s fashion correspondent Giuliana Rancic.
Last night, during a special Oscar’s red carpet edition of E!’s Fashion Police, the co-host exhibited her distaste for the faux loc style saying the young starlet looked like she “smells of patchouli oil and weed.” While we all know Fashion Police is notorious for their harsh criticism of celebrity style, Rancic’s comment was uncalled for, disrespectful, and undeniably racist. And as a young, African American woman who likes to switch up her hair, I feel Zendaya’s pain.
But Zendaya didn’t hold her silence for long.
