Michelle Obama’s Hair Causes Twitter Uproar While in Saudi Arabia

SAUDI-US-ROYALS-DIPLOMACY-OBAMA-SALMANIn the words of Sweet Brown, “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” And that’s exactly how we reacted when we got the news that our fabulous FLOTUS Michelle Obama ruffled some feathers while visiting Saudi Arabia this week.

The President and First Lady traveled to the country to pay their respects to the late King Abdullah of Saudi, an Arab state known for having one of the worst and most controversial human rights record in the world. But somehow all of this was overshadowed by Michelle Obama’s lack thereof a headscarf.

While niqabs (veils) are the usual attire for women in Saudi Arabia, exceptions are made for foreigners. But leave it to social media to create a ridiculous uproar about her personal decision to go without. Tweets sparked over Michelle’s attire with the hashatags #Michelle_Obama_Unveiled and #Michelle_Obama_Immodest criticizing her for not donning a headscarf.

Interestingly, the FLOTUS isn’t the only female political figure that has opted out of wearing a head in Saudia Arabia. Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Reagan have all publicly done the same as Obama in the past. Sounds like some of us have too much time on our hands to be worrying about whether Michelle Obama wore an optional head dressing. And can we please note that her softly flowing tresses were on point?

Guess people just want to overlook that, huh?
