Before hair typing came into place, the two curly-haired women whipped up products for natural hair of all kinds. “To see our product in Target, to see our product in Walmart, it’s just surreal,” she said during her interview with UPTOWN magazine. “We started in our very humble beginnings in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn in a brownstone.”
Although the news of Titi’s suicide has rocked the hair industry, it’s important to note the two women were innovators and pioneers in a space that was so scarce. “To see it mainstream, it just reinforces that we did all the right things.”
