Taking Care of Your Scalp

Coconut oil is full of fatty acids and vitamins that nourishes our scalp. Argan oil has vitamin e which reduces oxidative stress and preserves the protective lipid layer. If you have an oil concoction that does wonders when you do the LOC or LCO method, your scalp may benefit from it just as your hair strands have.

When it comes to taking care of our hair, sometimes we get caught up with our ends. It makes sense to put a little more TLC into the oldest parts of our hair because who wants split ends? No sir, not me. However, our scalps should not be forgotten when maintaining our hair’s health. Don’t over wash

As naturals, we don’t wash our hair everyday like those with straighter hair. We do this because our natural hair oils struggle with coating our curly strands. But if you want to show your scalp some love, it may make sense to wash it often. This is not the case since our scalp needs natural oils and overwashing strips our scalp of those oils. Oil your scalp

Oiling your scalp has a lot of benefits, the main one being that it moisturizes our roots which promotes healthy hair. When it comes to the oils to use when oiling your scalp, do your own research based on your hair type. Those with wavy hair may not benefit from oiling their scalp with thick oils such as castor oil. When looking for an oil for your scalp, stick with oils that have a similar consistency of your scalp’s natural oil. These oils include jojoba oil, coconut oil, and argan oil.

You may have enjoyed a relaxing back massage but have you ever gotten a scalp massage? It is a game changer. It has the energy of using a q-tip on your ears. If you decide to oil your scalp, you might as well do a scalp massage. Not only do scalp massages feel good, they enhance blood circulation which can promote thicker hair and growth. Massaging the oil of your choice can also amplify the power of your oil. Your oil can’t do its job if it’s just sitting on your scalp. Put those fingers to work sis!
