We also loved the texture play rocked by Regina King and Zendaya, who both gave us life with editorial updos. We caught up with celeb hairstylist Larry Sims, who was behind both looks, to get deets on their voluminous looks.

“With Regina, we wanted to keep her hair light and textured,” he tells Hype Hair. “We went for an airy finish that complemented the dress very well. Texture, texture, texture was definitely an intricate part of the finished look.”

We love how Larry played up Regina’s natural texture with her loose tendrils. The top knot also seems to mark the first time we’ve seen the beauty rock all of her own natural hair for the carpet.

For Zendaya, he went big with a voluminous updo. “We wanted to go for a retro-inspired Bridgette Bardo vibe for the hair,” he says. “Zendaya brought a cool vibe to the look that only she could pull off.”

To achieve the look, he set her hair with large hair rollers, before pulling it up into a high pony and backcombing the loose tresses for added texture.

For both looks, Larry used three offerings from his new line with Gabrielle Union Flawless by Gabrielle Union. The Black-owned brand features a Shine Heat Protection Spray ($9.99), which he used blow-drying Zendaya’s hair, and a Detangling Leave-In Conditioner ($9.99), he used on both of the beauties for added moisture. He also smoothed on a few drops of the Exotic Oil Treatment ($9.99) to give the looks a nice shine.
