For many of us, our introduction to DreamDoll was on the 16th season of Bad Girls Club on Oxygen. But we truly got to know her and her passion for music on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York. She only stayed for one season, but she made a lasting impression on fans.

Since then, we’ve gotten to know DreamDoll for her music, including her albums Life in Plastic, Life in Plastic 2, and her recent chart-topping single “Ah Ah Ah” with Fivio Foreign, which was rated at No. 6 on the iTunes Hip Hop/Rap Charts at the time of publication.

The trap single is a summertime hit that we didn’t know we needed. Those who weren’t familiar with DreamDoll as an artist – outside of Love & Hip Hop – realize that there’s more to her than a recurring role on television. Music has always been the focus, she tells Hype Hair.

“I wouldn’t say I’ve had struggles, but there (have) been some challenges getting people to take me serious as an artist and not just a reality star or a pretty face,” she says.

And when she’s not releasing new music, she’s snatching the edges of her 3 million followers on Instagram with her ever-changing looks. One minute, she’s in a lime green blunt bob the next, she’s rocking bundles that nearly touch her toes. She left us shook with her cover photo lavender bob, styled by celeb hairstylist Dionte Gray, better known as Arrogant Tae.

“My inspiration behind this cover photo for Dream was very fairytale, girly and soft,” says Tae. “I used a soft pastel lavender purple, mixed with blue highlights, layers, and volume. I got this look from a baby doll I seen with this purple hair and big eyes. Because Dream is a doll, my personal doll, I mimicked the look on her.”

Tae adds, “I keep my looks fresh and new for each of my clients by staying up to date with the latest styles and creating new looks to start trends. For each client, I always envision what looks best on them, what fits best, and what looks have they never tried. From there, I start building and creating.”
