Love & Hip Hop star Sierra Gates has been an open book about her beauty enhancements — whether we’re talking lace fronts, surgeries or other procedures. Now, the beauty mogul is revealing the potential dangers of getting steroid shots to help regrow her edges.
She took to social media earlier this week to share her hair story, which started with frontals. Like many who swear by units, she said the glue was damaging her hairline.
“About a year and a half ago, I stopped wearing frontals because it was breaking my hair off,” she says in the video clip. “It was growing back and it was getting good.”
But then, she took the advice of friends to try something different.
“I ended up getting steroid shots in my head because everybody was like, ‘it will boost up the process and help you get your edges back.'”
Unfortunately, she experienced the opposite.
“I got the steroid shots and had an allergic reaction,” she says. “I woke up one morning and it was completely bald.”
After experiencing the devastating hair loss, her dermatologist told her it could take up to three months before she starts seeing any growth. It has been nearly two months and nothing so far. “It’s still completely bald. No hair whatsoever,” she says.
She is now looking at getting hair implants, which she shays can run upwards of $40,000, but she’s willing to pay to get her natural tresses back.
“I really want my hair to grow back. I love my weave, but I just miss my natural hair. I just feel like I’m so beautiful just throwing my hair into a ponytail and going without any weave in it.”
