To Catch A Beautician will follow Tamar and co-host celebrity hairstylist Johnny Wright as they help hair victims get retribution for bad hairstyles.
With Tamar and Johnny as backup, they will be able to get their hair don’t redone by the stylists who failed them. Johnny, who is known for his work with Michelle Obama and Tamron Hall, will lead the hairstylists through a mini hair boot camp to make sure they get it right.
“I’m all about beauty. It’s addictive and funny… It’s relatable,” Tamar told Variety about the 20-episode show. “Sometimes it’s not just the beauticians, it’s the client. We check who needs to be checked.”
On teaming with Johnny, Tamar shared she tested with a few different hairstylists but immediately knew Johnny was the one.
“Instantly, we bonded,” she said. “He was just so educational and entertaining at the same time. So it was really, really refreshing. I knew instantaneously, he was the one.”
To Catch a Beautician premieres May 25 on VH1.
