Beauty professionals who have had to close their salons due to the coronavirus just got a new opportunity for financial relief. Beauty Changes Lives, a nonprofit which provides scholarships and mentorships to aspiring beauty pros, is now offering $70K in grants to licensed cosmetology, nail and esthetic professionals.
This marks the second wave of grants from the organization and is funded from sponsors of its 8th annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience originally scheduled for April 19. Sponsors include L’Oreal, Wella, Ratner Group, TIGI, KMS, Moroccanoil, Pivot Point, Ulta, Barboleta, Hattori Hanzo, John Paul Mitchell Systems, Oribe, American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) Board of Directors, ISPA, AG Hair, Ergo, and Greg Dawson.
The first wave provided $124K in grants and was funded by CND and the Horst M. Rechelbacher Foundation. Previous applicants will automatically be entered into this second wave.
“We are deeply touched to see these sponsors rally around the professional beauty community,” said Lynelle Lynch, Beauty Changes Lives president, in a recent statement. “While we had looked forward to hosting a celebratory evening featuring runway artistry, we are instead blessed by beautiful acts of generosity supporting those who call beauty their craft, calling and livelihood.”
Applicants must be licensed beauty professionals who have been employed for 12 months (or attending a program to become one) on or before March 16, 2020.
