The abolitionist icon Harriet Tubman has been getting a lot of media play this Black History Month with renewed talks of her being the face of the $20 bill (and that tragic bank card). Now, Sprayground is honoring the historic leader of the Underground Railroad with a limited-edition backpack.
The recent drop features a large portrait rendering of the new $20 bill set to be released in 2028. The new bill will also be the first bill to feature an African American woman on US currency.
“It’s an honor to be able to put an iconic historical figure in American culture on a Sprayground backpack,” said Sprayground owner and creative director David Ben-David in a recent statement. “Harriet Tubman’s activism influenced a great part of American culture and to be able to pay homage to such an amazing leader in our nation’s history during Black History Month is truly a privilege.”
The launch also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. The limited-edition Harriet Tubman backpack is available now exclusively at sprayground.com and at select retail locations.
