Lizzo never fails to bring fashion drama to the red carpet and her look for the NAACP Image Awards on Saturday was no exception. Before taking home the “Entertainer Of The Year” award, the “Juice” singer posed it up on the red carpet in a custom geometric lewk designed by Mary Katrantzou styled by Brett Nelson and face beat by Alexx Mayo.
Her hair, as usual, stole the show. This time, the naturalista worked an Afro-futuristic updo crafted by her go-to hairstylist Shelby Swain. Inspired by the geometric designs in Lizzo’s dress, the voluminous afro puff featured a mash-up of textured extensions.
Get The Look
Shelby shares she used Suave Professionals For Natural Hair collection to create the look. Starting on freshly washed and conditioned hair, she applied Suave Professional for Natural Hair Cream Detangler Spray before sectioning Lizzo’s hair into two ponytails.
Then she molded Lizzo’s hair into a bun using Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Define & Shine Gel Serum. For added volume, she added textured hairpieces, using hairpins to hold in place.
Once set, she added in swooping twisted textured locs and a sleek swatch of bone-straight extensions to complete the avant-garde look.
She spritzed on the Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Frizz Reducing Refresher Spray to “help pick out and define the curls,” before setting with Suave Professionals Firm Control Finishing Hairspray.
