Many naturalistas are all too familiar with the struggle that follows the joy of a bomb silk press. Your ends are trimmed. You’ve got bounce and flowy movement. But now, you are avoiding water like the plague and trying hard not to reach for a flat-iron for a “quick pass” on your new ‘do.
Well, we love how natural hairstylist Zhané takes the stress out of keeping those soft curls popping with a simple night routine that won’t feel like another hair appointment. The Brooklyn-based hairstylist recently took to Instagram to show off a quick roller set that you could do in 15 minutes or less to keep hair sleek and stretched.
It will “aid in adding/keeping the body and volume in your hair,” she wrote in the caption. “This will also create heatless curls when your silk press falls flat or gets old.”
After strategically placing five large grey flexi rods onto a client’s hair, she showed the take-down process for light, voluminous curls. If you’ve got shorter tresses, part hair into smaller sections, but take note of how she pulled up hair from the back into the middle crown to add in stretching and keeping the edges straight.
