Her look is also a great reminder that we don’t have to always search for, grow or flexi-rod the “perfect” curl to get our slay on. We especially love how she repped that last night at the 2020 Grammys.
The Jaimie singer posed it up Sunday night in a green satin pantsuit by Nonja Mackenzie and tapered fro coifed by celeb hairstylist Monaè Everett.
Monaè gave Hype Hair a behind-the-scenes peek at the tools she used to create the look.
To get the look, Monaè applied Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Featherlight Styling Cream ($10) and the Advanced Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel ($75) on top of freshly washed hair.
Then, she clipped in Big Chop kinky hair extensions to add some volume and depth. Once she achieved the desired shape, she grabbed her Twist It Up ($20) — a tool similar to sponge brushes, except you can wash it and actually twist from the roots up. She worked it in circular motions to help blend and shape her curls while still damp.
Once air-dried, Monaè picked through her hair with a large comb to add height and finished off with IGK Speechless Dry Oil Finishing Spray ($27). for added shine.
