R&B vet Alicia Keys was a beacon of light hosting the 2020 Grammys for the second year in a row Sunday night. The beauty dropped jewels (and songs of) wisdom and encouragement after the tragic death of NFL legend Kobe Bryan Sunday morning.

She also served up crystal-envy with baby hairs laid to the gawds by her go-to hairstylist Nai’vasha.
“I wanted to accent the mega drama of her Versace clothes with edgy braids and delicate accents of custom Jennifer Behr crystal embellishments,” Nai’vasha tells Hype Hair.
A literal work of art, Alicia’s baby hairs were intricately swirled, swooped and accented with crystals that sparkled in tandem with her show-opening silver Versace gown. They were also the perfect complement to the dozen chic straight-back cornrows she rocked for most of the night.
“This was “classic, quintessential ‘Alicia’ but with a fresh approach,” says Nai’vasha. “There are notes of 90s edge to perfectly align with all the custom 90’s inspired wardrobe.”
Nai’vasha created the look using products from the new natural haircare line Emerge, along with T3 tools. After braiding the cornrows in one-inch sections with a low wrapped bun, she used the Emerge Styles Goals gel ($6.99) to art up Alicia’s baby hairs with a “whimsical finish” and set her hairline using T3 Cura Luxe dryer and diffuser.
Throughout the night, Nai’vasha also added various hair accessories to the back of Alicia’s bun for her various costume changes. We’re here for all of it!
