Rapper Saweetie rocked a luscious top knot at the Grammys using Dove’s new Amplified Textures collection. Styled up by Ray Christopher, the “My Type” emcee served up the chic look with a surprise accent — multi-color hairpins — to complement her gown.

“The inspiration for Saweetie’s look tonight was simple, let’s make the bun fun again,” says Ray. Starting on freshly cleansed and conditioned hair, he applied Dove Amplified Textures Twist In Moisture Shaping Butter Cream ($6.99) to help moisturize her hair before smoothing it up in a sleek, high ponytail with Dove Amplified Textures Shine and Moisture Finishing Gel ($6.99).

Once the ponytail was secure, he applied more of the shaping butter for onto her ends before twisting up. (Tip: clip in a few tracks or drawstring ponytail if you desire more length or volume).

“Using a coiling technique, I twisted sections of her ponytail to resemble a curl before securing with bobby pins in the bun,” Ray tells us. Once up, he pinned bun into place and used the gel to smooth down any flyaways and style her baby hairs.

Then, he randomly placed the multicolor pins throughout her hair for a fun accent. “The pins added an extra special touch for an avant-garde, high fashion, and chic look.”
