Black girl beauty has always been a controversial topic of discussion in mainstream media. The very things that Black women have been mocked for, have laws regulating, and been discriminated against are consistently exoticized and celebrated when on White skin.
This includes everything from our hair texture and skin tone to our lips, hips, and backsides.
It’s a constant mindfuck.
So, it was refreshing to tune into television personality Gia Peppers‘ new YouTube series “Black Girl Beauty” which launched earlier this month.
Gia teamed with VH1 to host the six-episode series is the ultimate girl chat focused on various journeys towards accepting and celebrating our beauty. Featured guests include reality TV personalities Amara La Negra and Sierra Gates, ESSENCE beauty director Julee Wilson, and beauty influencer René Askew.
Press play below to watch episode 3 featuring Sierra and travel expert Tanyka Renee as they explore their journeys toward self-love, body positivity and reveling in their melanin magic.
