Known as the stunning beauty behind Mielle Organics Monique Rodriguez is the boss babe that many strive to emulate. It’s hard to believe that her beauty empire got its start in her garage.

However, the entrepreneur was able to build an undeniable brand and create her foundation, Mielle Cares, seemingly without breaking a sweat. Luckily for us, she was able to answer a few quick questions on how She Grinds Pretty.

GRINDS PRETTY: What are your five beauty product must-haves?
MONIQUE: The (Mielle Organics) Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil, Babassu & Mint Deep Conditioner, Moisture Rx Hawaiian Ginger Moisturizing Styling Gel, Rosemary Mint Strengthening Shampoo and Advanced Healthy Hair Vitamins.

GP: How would you define beauty?
MONIQUE: Beauty is defined by your character of who you are within. You can be a beautiful person on the outside but have an ugly spirit. Being genuine and carrying a kind spirit allows others to be drawn to you. It’s also being comfortable in your own skin and not be subjected to how others define beauty.

GP: What do you feel is your purpose in life?
MONIQUE: My purpose is to inspire and motivate others to follow their dreams. God has given me the platform to pursue my passion in hair care. (That) has allowed me to inspire and educate others to… become entrepreneurs and provide sound advice through my mentorship program.

GP: What drives you in your business?
MONIQUE: What drives me are my children. I expose them on how to become entrepreneurs, by bringing them to work and instilling in them that they can follow their dreams and live a purposeful life.

GP: What quotes do you live by?
MONIQUE: I have a few quotes I live by, but one that resonates the most is Isaiah 54:17: “no weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
