Nothing celebrates Black hair, beauty and the essence of dope, ’90s style like The Doux. The colorful haircare line is all about natural hair with visual branding that harkens to a classic hip hop era. Maya Smith is the founder and brains behind the brand. Having been a hairstylist for more than two decades, she chose to create what spoke to her artistically and made her hair look its best.
She Grinds Pretty caught up with beauty boss Maya Smith to pick her brain about her favorite beauty products and her definition of beauty.
SHE GRINDS PRETTY: What are your must-have products?
MAYA: The Doux Mousse Def Texture Foam, The Doux Good Day Finishing Cream, The Glamtory Matte lip in Sugarberry, Neutrogena make-up wipes and Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner.

MAYA: I define beauty as anything seen or felt that brings us a sense of joy.
SGP: What drives your work?
MAYA: I believe my purpose is to bring true light to the way people see themselves and inspire others to create beauty for themselves and people around them.
