Tracee Ellis Ross just gave us our hair lives with a larger-than-life afro slay for her fourth cover spread with ESSENCE. Serving up major goddess vibes, the beauty stuns in a gravity-defying voluminous afro coiffed by natural hair guru Nai’vasha Johnson.
Tracee has always been natural hair goals, but this may be her best — and tallest — crown of curls, yet. In a few looks, she even rocks an actual braided crown. Yaass hair!
Tracee said Law “dreamt up a story of royalty,” for the fashion styling, which included sheer gowns with oversized shoulders, structured lines, and even a giant gold bow. She completed the look with a soft nude beat painted by Vera Steimberg.
Inside, she talks about her new haircare line, Pattern, her journey to success outside of her mother’s glorious shadow and celebrating sisterhood.
On Pattern being more than just about a product:
“I’m really interested in changing how we speak to each other, celebrate each other, love each other, and how we play with our hair.
