Ciara gave us full fashion life at Harlem’s Fashion Row Awards dinner Thursday (Sept. 5) night at the One World Observatory. Sticking with the evening’s theme “All Black (Designer) Everything,” she posed it up in a black, green-striped racing jumpsuit from Virgil Abloh’s Off-White FW19 RTW collection.
And, before heading up to the stage to accept the Icon 360 Award, she donned bright green leather gloves to complete the look.
But it was her braids that had us on alert. Hype Hair was in the building and her team told us it has been ages since she rocked cornrows on the red carpet.
The simple chic look featured clean lines (a must for a straight-back look) and back-grazing braids with loose blunt ends and a complementary smokey eye and rosey nude face beat by her longtime makeup artist Yolonda Frederick.
Her slay was part-and-the-parcel of the event, where she was honored with the Icon 360 award for her 15-year career of serving chart-topping music, power fashion moves and the launch of Beauty Marks Entertainment — to house all of her beauty, music, media and film efforts.
“Be your own boss,” she told the audience, sharing how BME is helping her to reclaim her narrative and take control. “Let’s not just fight for a seat at the table,” she said. “It is time to own the table.”
She thanked her husband Russell Wilson and two sons for making her feel like an icon. “These awards are so amazing, but I am so grateful for having that love. [They] look at me and make me feel like a superwoman!”
