Disney star Zendaya continues to shed her bubble gum imaging with boundary-pushing shoots (and roles). The latest is her cover spread for Paper magazine’s June 2019 issue.
In it, she pays homage to her new show Euphoria in a series of moody monochromatic crimson looks styled by her right-hand fashion guru, Law Roach.
For the cover shot, she rocks a billowy gown from Genny 2019 RTW collection complemented with a piecey bob by Larry Sims and makeup by Sheika Daley.
Inside, Zendaya talks about her new role and making room for upcoming talent.
On her new role:
“The show to me is not that shocking. I know a lot of 17-year-olds that are going through this. We’re not more shocking than things that have happened in Game of Thrones. What is shocking is that we’re not used to seeing [young people’s experiences portrayed] so viscerally and so honestly.”
On changing the industry: “There’s this misconstrued idea that once you make it, there’s only room for yourself. I disagree. Once you’re able to make room for yourself, you try to make as many freakin’ rooms as you can.”
