Model and activist Adwoa Aboah shines on British GQ’s Heroes-themed cover spread. Lensed by Buzz White, she serves close-up beauty shots for the black and white spread while rocking her signature cropped cut.
For her beauty beat, she sports a nude face painted by Bea Sweet, featuring graphic eyeliner, brushed brows, and lengthy Twiggy-esque bottom lashes.
Inside, she dishes on what makes a hero: “Someone who lives and breathes and loves everything that they do, and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks, and almost uses that as fuel to continue their journey of heroism.”
For Adwoa, her heroes are the members of Gurls Talk group — the digital community she founded to help women empower themselves in a safe and nurturing space. “I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without them.”
The beauty is one of five celeb cover stars (including Sam Smith) to mark the inaugural GQ Heroes event. As part of the launch, Adwoa will discuss mental health taboos and how she built her community at the May 8-10 event at Soho Farmhouse.
