ICYMI: Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter Pulled Amid Controversy

While we were all ready to spend our coins on the latest launch of Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter shades, there are only two, “Afternoon Snack/Mo’ Hunny” and “Penny 4u Thots” available for purchase. The third shade “Geisha Chic” has been pulled by the beauty brand after fans requested a name change.

The brand has been consistent with funky product names since its start. While many have been a cheeky or a cool play on words like “Midnight Wasabi,” “Saw-C” and F’N Black, the moniker “Geisha Chic” did not sit well with fans.

When the beauty blog Trendmood posted the launch, fans lit up the comment section.

“Geisha chic? For a brand that wants to be all #woke and inclusive it’s…..yikes” and “being a geisha isn’t ‘chic’ it’s not an aesthetic to be worn??? I thought fenty knew better.”

Once the news was out, the brand decided to immediately pull the product. “Due to the feedback on this post @fentybeauty has decided to completely remove this shade from online and in stores until further notice,” Trendmood captioned a post. “We will keep u updated! We appreciate Fenty Beauty’s responsiveness to this matter and applaud the continuous evolution of this amazing beauty community 💗🙏🏼 .”

While we couldn’t wait to get our hands on this gorgeous metallic brick red highlighter, there are more than enough options to hold us over. Glad to see the Rihanna and her Fenty Beauty listen and do right by her fans.
