Music For A Purpose
In the Name of Love: Africa Celebrates U2 (Shout! Factory)
This cd’s purpose is to encourage people to start being interested in doing their part to help fight diseases in Africa. Artists from 10 African countries specifically recorded the 12 songs featured on this album. A portion of the proceeds benefits The Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Angelique Kidjo gives an original rendition of “Mysterious Ways”. It is done with an eclectic combination of her native tongue and English, further displaying her ability to change the way the world views Africa. The cd is poignant and brings to mind the brutal reality that we must and should take part in to help change the plight of Africa. It is a reminder that music and humanitarian beliefs can bridge all races, all religions, and all cultures.
