| I was always taught not to put grease on a permed scalp because it suffocate the scalp. Is it ok to do stop because my scalp needs some type of moisturizer other than oil sheen, it gets really dry and flaky. My wrap be gorgeous until it dries out. |
Hype Hair |
| The key to remember with oiling the scalp is to do it in moderation. Some people fare better with oiling their scalp and since this seems to be the case with you, we recommend oiling the scalp no more than 3 times per week. We recommend Bergamont products. You can also try other alternatives, like natural oils, which are much lighter on the scalp and absorb easier. Try Aphogee's Essential Oils or try a local health food or Whole Foods store. They offer a variety of natural oils, such as almond and coconut oils, which are great for the hair. |

| I have been wearing afro hair for over 17 years.i love the two strand twist style i have been to 3 different salons all said i can't wear it because my hair is too frizzy
It didn't work for me .what can i do about the frizz? My hair is past my shoulders but it is very very frizzy can you help me out? |
Hype Hair |
| Try a great frizz control product like Morroccanoil Frizz Control. It saturates each strand of hair, providing them with de-frizzing protection and all without weighing down your strands. The end result is smooth, sleek hair that is frizz free all day, no matter the
temperature. |

| Hi, I have relaxed my hair since my 14th birthday and now I'm 21 and my hair is thin and falls out of every time I comb it. I'm thinking of cutting it and dying it in a lighter shade over the summer but I have been told that colouring my hair would completely ruin it. Is it true? What do you suggest for me to grow healthier hair?
|
Hype Hair |
| Yes, relaxing and dyeing the hair can cause damage overtime if the hair is not properly cared for. A semi-permanent hair color may be the best option for you. |

| Hey. How you're doing? My five yr. old daughter hair breaks off bad in the back. The top of her hair grows alot though. It's starting to grow because the keeps braids in but her hair is nappy and dry. I grease it alot but that doesn't do any good. She has a silk pillow case and she sleeps with a silk head scarf. What else can I do to help her hair grow and keep moist?
I have thick short but very damaged hair. I was told that I have to get my hair cut shorter because I put a relaxer and a kids texturizer in it. It's feels and looks like a sheeps butt. What is a good product to use after I get my hair cut and a good rinse dye color for my skintone? |
Hype Hair |
| Certain sections of your hair may grow longer than others, but it is still growing. Patience is key. Continue to practice a good hair care routine for your daughter. We also suggest using products formulated especially for kids, such as the Sof n Free line. We urge you to also stay away from relaxers, as the chemicals may be too harsh for her hair and in turn, cause damage and breakage. If you are braiding her hair or pulling it up in ponytails, be sure that they are not too tight and be sure to moisturize the hair daily. |

| what helps your edges to grow?? my 14 daughter edges are slick, but the rest of her hair i shoulder length. what type of grease is good for the scalp?. |
Hype Hair |
| The edges need to be protected, as they are the most vulnerable area of the hair. Cover them at night before bed with a satin bonnet or scarf to ward off friction and don't wear the hair in styles that cause too much tension on the edges. Braids or ponytails that are too tight can cause breakage. Try Organic Root Stimulator's Temple Balm to help grow the edges back in. |

| Hey hypehair im having a sensitive scalp around the front of my head and dandruff flakes i use a sulfur 8 but its not helping and i also got a relaxer about two months ago any suggestions on what to do for my hair
|
Hype Hair |
| We suggest using a shampoo, such as Head & Shoulders, for dry and flaky scalp. If you continue to have issues with sensitive scalp, we suggest visiting a dermatologist. In the meantime, hold off on relaxers until you can get the problem under control. |

Thanks. |
Hype Hair |
| Patience is the key. Your hair will grow back, and we suggest using products geared specifically for natural hair to keep it healthy. |

| I have long natural thick hair but I have dandruff.I am considering getting my hair relaxed or maybe a texturizer would it cause damage to my hair if I did? |
Hype Hair |
| Anytime you alter your natural hair texture with chemical processing there are some small risks. But if you take the utmost care of your hair by getting regular trims and deep conditioning treatments, this should keep your hair healthy, whether you choose a relaxer or a texturizer. |

Right now we use Aveeno baby lotion and it works pretty well but we're looking for something to make it grow and easier to style... any recommendations? |
Hype Hair |
| Our suggestion is to let the baby's hair grow in on its own without too much manipulation to it. Every head of hair grows in at its own pace. Patience is the key. In the meantime, try products that will make it soft and manageable, like the Curly Q line. |

I still want to transition to something different my hair on the side cannt be braided or the back to the fact my hair to short I am in a hair emergency please help with me figuring this out thank you |
Hype Hair |
| We don't suggest going back and forth between texturizers and relaxers. Stick to one to prevent damage and breakage and only relaxer or texturize the new growth. |

| Hello, I have been natural for about six months, however I always wear lace front wigs and conceal my natural hair. I can not afford the pricey hair salons geared for natural hair. Should I try it once to train my natural hair? I do think that a short curly bush will look great on me. Are there any do it yourself natural hairstyles I can try, because if not I think I am just going to give myself a textualizer because my hair is too thick. Please your comment is greatly appreciated. |
Hype Hair |
| If you are just transitioning and having a hard time with your natural new growth, we do recommend an appointment with a natural hair care specialist just to get some expert care and to give you an idea on how to care for your own new natural texture. As for do it yourself styles, we love bantu knots. It is a great style to try if you are just transitioning and easy to do yourself. Also, look into the As I Am hair care line for natural hair. Especially their Co-Washes. |

| Hi! I have had a perm for about 20 yrs now and for the past 3 yrs i have had a very sensitive scalp. I've tried different moisterizers with tea tree oils and coconut oils. I've even tried something about keratin treatment, but after every wash my scalp is still tender and sore. Are there any good product recommendations? |
Hype Hair |
| This can happen over time if you are relaxing your hair too often. It should only be done every 6 to 8 weeks and only on the new growth. You probably had scalp irritation during the application of your last relaxer and this most likely exacerbated the problem. |

| We feel the best thing to do for your childs hair is to keep it in braids as much as possible. Braids can last a few weeks if you maintain them properly. After she's had her hair braided, get a good braid spray and spritz the hair and scalp with it every other day. Also, have her sleep in a hair bonnet or silk scarf at night to protect the braids as she sleeps. |

| Hi Hype Hair,
I have been natural for a year and a half and I toggle back and forth between natural and straight (flat ironed) styles pretty frequently and now when I wash my hair and try to wear it natural parts of my hair are really straight. How do I get my natural curls back? Do I have to cut it again? Someone told me that it turned straight because I was flat ironing my hair. I need help! |
Hype Hair |
| Yes, this can happen. Too much flat ironing can changed the natural curl pattern of your hair. This is why we recommend it sparingly. We recommend giving the flat iron a rest for a while. |

| I have thick hair but it grows very slowly. I wanna find something that will make my hair longer not thicker. Any ideas? |
Hype Hair |
| Outside of relaxing, pressing or flat ironing, there is not much you can do about the natural texture and thickness of your hair. To grow it, you have to take good care of your hair. Shampooing and conditioning regularly, using products geared to your hair type, trimming off damaged and split ends, protecting your hair from harsh environmental elements and eating right all come into play. |

| Hello Hype hair. When i was younger i burned a patch in my hair with the straightening comb and now the spot wont grow back. it is just a random short spot in the middle of my head. Also my hair suffers from dandriff and constant breakage.I also wear alot of quickweaves because i just dont know what to do with my hair anymore and am worried that the glue can be damaging to my hair. I want to make my hair healthier and less prone to break. Can you recommend products to help with my hair growth and the health of my scalp?? |
Hype Hair |

| I stopped putting perms on my hair about a yearand a half ago and my hair has grown alot but when I try to wear my own hair it seems as though it does not get straight with pressing and flat ironing. I know my ends are bad but I don't want to cut them until my hair grows long enough to where I can spare the inch or two Is that safe or will they get worse and worse. Can damaged ends and hair be fixed without cutting them off
|
Hype Hair |
| We suggest keeping a good conditioner on the ends to keep them soft and manageable, and also wearing protective styles such as buns, braids and weaves that are installed properly until your hair is at a length that you are comfortable with before cutting off the ends. |

Hype Hair |
| Sometimes, you can do too much with your hair. Too tight braids along with the constant use of heat styling tools can wreak havoc on your hair. Try giving your hair a break for a while from both styling methods. Keep it clean and deep condition often. Protect it at night by tying it up at night with a scarf and trim off all split ends. This helps the hair to grow back in healthy. |

You can apply an ointment over it to help sooth the burn and use gentle products without alcohol. Treat the area gently until is heals completely. Your hair should grow back eventually. |

Hype Hair |
| Sometimes having split ends can prevent your hair from growing to great lengths. Visit a hair salon and have a professional stylist assess the condition of your hair. If you have a lot of split ends, having them trimmed can get you off to a great start in growing your hair to the length you want, but it will take some time so be patient. |

| Hype Hair. I'm trying to make a really tough decision about cutting my hair. I've had long hair my whole life and I'm really bored with it. My cousin said I should try a weave, but I'm afraid that will snatch my hair out. Will a weave really break my hair? |
Hype Hair |
| It really depends on what technique you use and how tight the weave is installed. If you opt for a sew-in, be vocal with your stylist. If the braids and the sew in process is too tight, speak up. This can cause damage to the hair.If you are really worried about damage, try a net cap weave. |

| hello hype my hair is thick and it breaks off pretty easily if I dont relax it I cant deal with it. I dont want to cut it because every time I do it takes forever to grow. All I want is healthy hair and for it to grow what can I do to help that? |
Hype Hair |
| When relaxing the hair, only relax the new growth, not the entire head of hair. Constantly perming already relaxed hair can cause breakage. Keep relaxed hair moisturized at all times. Dry relaxed hair has a tendency to break off easier. |

|
Hype Hair |
| Try this trick: Part her hair in four section and apply a generous amount of conditioner to each section. Next, using a wide-tooth comb only, start combing the hair from the roots first straight down to the tips. This helps to get rid of tangles before styling the hair. |

| Hello, I have been trying to dye my hair brown over a month using soft sheen dark & lovely hair color products; i've tried their products more than once and have not achieved the desired color; could u tell me why it hasn't worked; is the shade 2 dark? My hair is the darkest brown already but it looks black. Thank You. |
Hype Hair |
| It's usually harder to go from a darker color to a lighter color. If your hair is already black, the color would have to be lifted to lighten the darker shade. We recommend consulting with a professional colorist to help you with this process. |

| hello hype hair!i have no problems at all with my hair.it healhy, thick, and medium length.it growin out pretty good i must say.my question is my 10 year old daughter want to be a natural and is in the process of growin her relaxer out.is there a good shampoo and conditioner that u can recommend and detangler.do u think ishould oil her scalp.i want this to be a smooth transition for my baby girl |
Hype Hair |
| Hello and thank you for your comment. We are happy to hear that you and your child made the decision to transition back to natural, as relaxers can be harsh on little scalps. You should definitely mooisturize the scalp when the hair is dry and brittle. Keeping the hair moisturized is key. Try Sof'n free'n Pretty hair products for kids. |

| Flaky scalp is a result of dry skin on the scalp. Using a quality dandruff shampoo can assist with this problem. |

| Hi Hype Hair. I having a problem with the back of my hair not growing. It has been like this for .....about 1-2 years now. I don't know if the cause might be stress or other reasons. What deep conditioner && shampoo can I use to make my hair more healthier, thicker, and moisturized? If I need to go on a diet what particular food I need to start eating? Also what vitamins can I start taking to help my hair grow faster? |
Hype Hair |
| Diet plays a big role in the care of your hair. Lots of green leafy vegetables and nuts are great as well as protein found in chicken and fish.Try Motions products for a great hair care line. |

| The proper diet and hair care products geared to your hair type can make the process easier.Braiding is also a great way to give your natural hair a rest from drying heat styling products while it grows. |

| this may be a silly question but is a relaxer and texturizer the same thing? if so what's the difference between the two? |
Hype Hair |
| A texturizer loosens your natural curl pattern to make the hair more manageable while a relaxer changes the texture of your hair altogether. |

| hair has a thin spot on temple can't seem to help it what can i do to bring it back thicker and healthier? |
Hype Hair |
| If you are styling your hair is ways that can cause tension on the edges (braids, ponytails, weaves), you may need to make sure you are not pulling your hair too tight in those areas. In the meantime, try Organic Root Stimulator Fertilizing Temple Balm to the edges twice a day and sleep in something that protects your edges at night while you sleep. |

|
| What's the best product to use for hair growth? I have been getting alot of breakage. |
Hype Hair |
| The best thing that you can do to help stimulate growth is to keep the hair moisturized. Textured hair tends to get dryer easier and this results in breakage. Try Motions DPT to deep condition the hair. |
