HH: Where do you see your brand going in the next three to five years?
CAY: I see my brand next to Kim Kimble, my hair idol, and all the heavy hitters like Cliff Vmir, Hair by Ivy, and all the greats just because of my versatility.
HH: Who is your dream celebrity client to work with?
CAY: I would love to make a custom look for Toni Braxton, Shay Johnson — [they are] just so many I can’t pick just one…
HH: What are some other projects that you are currently working on?
CAY: I am currently working on my hair line now called Fused Hair Collection which covers clip-is, ponytails, Russian blonde hair, Afro kinky hair (for my natural queens), lace wigs and so much more…
HH: What advice would you give to upcoming hairstylists who are trying to break into the industry?
CAY: First of all, push your brand as much as you can on social media. Nowadays, you have more doors open that way than when I first started. Business cards…and great word of mouth go a long way. Never think anyone is not looking. [Someone is] always looking at your professionalism and how you present yourself as a boss and hairstylist.
