Taraji P. Henson never disappoints. The Proud Mary and Hidden Figures star stepped out on the Oscars red carpet last night looking like a goddess in a custom Vera Wang gown that left us swooning. She completed the flowy look with a sleek lob coiffed by Tym Wallace and flawless face beat by Ashunta Sheriff

With such a revealing dress, Ashunta shared that Taraji’s skin prep was just as important as her makeup look for the night.”Because Taraji’s dress was Grecian and flowy, and showed lots of skin, I wanted to make sure she was glowing and moisturized from head to toe!,” she said. To keep her glow in check, Ashunta opted for Vaseline’s jelly-infused Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant collection. Both the lotion and body butter are moisturizing must-haves without a greasy residue.

For Taraji’s face, Ashunta used Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer and her own Perfect Blend by Ashunta Sheriff for “a natural soft coverage.”  To get the soft cheek highlight, she used Danessa Myricks Enlight Illuminator in Confidence and then sculpted and contoured for added definition with Cozette’s six-shade Infinite Contour Palette using the brand’s S145 Perfect Contour brush.

To make her eyes pop, Ashunta used KISS Blowout Lashes in Pixie. “Taraji’s red carpet look was dark and sultry, so I wanted to balance that by using a lightweight feminine and flirty lash.” She then blended the faux lashes into Taraji’s real lashes using a black mascara. For her plum lip, Ashunta used MAC Cork lip liner on her lips and used The Lip Bar’s Liquid Matte Creme in Savage and Drama Queen.

Pro Tip: Ashunta revealed that she always fills in the lips with the liner before applying lipstick. “Layering ensures the color lasts longer.”
