As fans wondered whether Tiny big chopped, we caught up with Atlanta-based stylist Tanisha Bullock (better known as @bkluvsme) to get the intel behind her recent hair slayage. Read on to see what inspired the new look and how she really created it.
Hype Hair: We’re loving Tiny’s new do! What inspired the short cut?
Tanisha Bullock: Her name. I said everything should be tiny. I told her ‘you really need a short cut — something grown and sexy’. And I always thought short blonde would be super dope on her. Her husband loves blonde. That’s her personality.
Hype Hair:We saw that Tiny flew you in to NYC just to do the look?
Tanisha Bullock: I’ve been knowing Tiny for a long time and doing her hair for special occasions and larger shoots. So, she flew me in to do it.
HH: Tiny normally rocks longer, bigger more colorful hair. What was her reaction when you suggested it?
TB: She was nervous at the end [when I started cutting]. She’s never asked this many questions! I asked her ‘do you trust me?’ She said, ‘Yes, Tee, I do’ and we did it. She’s ready to do new things!
HH: How did you create the look? Is it a wig?
TB: It’s a quick weave. Her own natural hair is long and braided down really flat.
HH: How do you protect the hair underneath?
TB: I used a cap and paper under the quick weave and paper so the glue won’t get on the hair. It’s a great way to keep you hair up and keep it from breaking.
HH: Love! How long can it last?
TB: You can wear from four to six weeks depending on how you take care of it.
HH: Scrolling through your Instagram, we see you stay busy! Who else can we see your hair magic on?
TB: I work on the set a lot with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. I do Tommie’s hair. I’ve been doing her hair for eight years, since before the show. I recently did Toya [Wright]’s baby shower.
HH: Where do you draw your inspirations from?
TB: I’m super inspired by God. I’ve been doing hair for a long time and I love it. I love being creative and like to create different looks for people. I’m always trying to do something different and give somebody their own look.
