Serena Williams has easily made the transition from tennis goals to mom goals since the birth of her baby girl Alexis Olympia. She showed off her post-pregnancy bod and had the most fairytale wedding of the year. Now, she’s giving us all the feels on the February cover of Vogue.
The tennis great shares the cover alongside her daughter, making Alexis the youngest Vogue cover star yet. Lensed by Mario Testino, Serena glows in a red Versace dress paired with golden earrings and bracelet, while Alexis sports a onesie (too cute!). Her deep brown kinky waves were crafted by Vernon François with a nude beauty beat by Tyron Machhausen.
“When I first saw this @voguemagazine cover it brought tears to my eyes. All Vogue covers are special, but to share this one with my beautiful daughter @olympiaohanian also the youngest Vogue cover star makes it moment I will never forget.”
Inside, she talks about motherhood, complications after giving birth (she was bedridden for six weeks) and making her tennis comeback.
“Sometimes I get really down and feel like, Man, I can’t do this,” she says. “It’s that same negative attitude I have on the court sometimes. I guess that’s just who I am. No one talks about the low moments—the pressure you feel, the incredible letdown every time you hear the baby cry. I’ve broken down I don’t know how many times. Or I’ll get angry about the crying, then sad about being angry, and then guilty, like, Why do I feel so sad when I have a beautiful baby? The emotions are insane.”
Her cover spread is also an all-family affair, featuring tender moments with her husband, sisters and her mom. Swipe through to check out the rest of the images and click here to read the full interview.
