These Photos Turn Stretch Marks Into Works Of Art

While many of us are on a constant search to fade, hide or cover up stretch marks, Sara Shakeel is challenging women to celebrate their beauty with a stunning new series. The dentist-turned-visual artist who is known for superimposing images together for dramatic effect is now transforming stretch marks into artwork.

Sara has taken to Instagram to share raw images of both her and her followers’ in which she has graphically painted over the stretch marks with glitter, giving new meaning to getting your shine on.

Sara created the series to help empower women to celebrate their imperfections. The series has since gone viral, turning stretch marks into glitter and crystal badges of beauty.

“I have never felt so powerful & liberated and so f***ing proud of my stretch marks in my entire life,” captioned Sara in one post. “The stretch marks story will continue and I have so many other ideas and plans in mind,” she shared in a another. “The artwork that I have made out of you are real! These picture that you see are REAL of REAL women with stretchmarks!”

Thank you everyone for the #glitterstretchmarks response and the numerous features of my artwork! The past few days have been unreal! Good and bad, but tbh I shall always look at the good side because nothing is more powerful then giving confidence to myself along with so many women and men out there!
